The following is a list of birds whose names begin with letter H. The birds are not necessarily closely related because they come from different orders, families and species. These birds are found in very different places on the globe and feed on totally different foods.

Hainan Partridge

This is a bird species that belongs to the family Phasianidae and which is endemic to, as can be obviously seen Hanian Island and China. It lives naturally on the tropical or the subtropical lowland forests as well as wet montanes. It faces a serious threat of the loss of habitat.

Harlequin Duck

The Harlequin Duck, is scientifically known as Histrionicus histrionicus, and is a small sea duck which is also called Lords and Ladies in North America. It also has several other names which include totem pole duck, rock duck, painted duck white eyed diver, mountain duck squeaker and blue streak.

Harpy Eagle

The Harpy Eagle (Harpia harpyja) is sometimes also referred to as the American Harpy Eagle. It is a Neotropical species of eagle which was first described in 1758 by Linnaeus in his Systema naturae as Vultur harpyja and so far the only member of the genus Harpia. It is a major resident of the tropical lowland forests especially in the upper canopy layer.

The helmeted Curassow

This is a large, terrestrial curassow that measures 91 cm long and has a small head with a large casqued that appears bluish on its forehead. They also have tail feathers that are white tipped and breast feathers.

Hedge Accentor

Sometimes called the Dunnock, Hedge sparrow or Hedge Warbler, Hedge Accentor is a petite passerine bird that colonizes all or the temperate Europe and parts of the Asian subcontinent. It mainly resides in the south and the milder west of the range in which it is found, but because of its insectivorous nature, has to migrate from the colder parts.

Hadada Ibis

Hadada ibis is a kind of afrotropical species which is common in areas bordering latitude 15 N °with an exception of the drier parts of Somalia and South West of the African continent. These birds are mainly found in Kenya and probably have the most unique calls of all the Kenyan birds. In fact their name is derived from the type of noise that these birds make when in flight. They really resemble Glossy Ibis which are equally dark plumaged although are readily identifiable by their conspicuous white cheek marks. They are mostly vocal early in the morning and when the dusk is just setting in.

Harris's Hawk

The Harris Hawk has several other names which include Bay-winged Hawk or Dusky Hawk and is scientifically known as Parabuteo unicinctus. It a large bird of prey that is most prevalent in southwestern USA, parts of Chile and also Central Argentina. They have also been reported outside the Americas main the western European country of Britain.

Hawaiian Crow

Also called Alalā the Hawaiian Crow (Corvus hawaiiensis) is a species of birds which are to be found in the family of the crow bird called Corvidae. It is native to the Hawaiians.

Hazel Grouse

Its scientific name is Bonasa bonasia and can also be referred to as the Hazel Hen. It is one of the lesser members of the grouse family of birds and breed across central Europe and the Eastern Europe.
