DESCRIPTION 7 inches (18cm). White neck, breast sides and bell, darker greyish-brown on top, yellowish at vent.
NATURAL DISTRIBUTION Iran to West Pakistan.
HABITAT Often in large groups, in wooded areas near water, and often near people in winter. Can damage fruit crops. Builds nest in thick bush.
DIET Fruit, softbill food, mynah pellets, live food.
SPECIAL NEEDS Intolerant of cold; house indoors in lightly heated area during winter.
CAGE LIFE Lively, inquisitive, tame. Normally pleasant, but during breeding season can be destructive, and may interfere with nests of other birds. House in densely planted flight, free cup-shaped nest. Lays 2 to 4 whitish eggs with red blotches, dots and stripes. Incubation 12 to 13 days by female, male will feed, fledging 14 to 17 days.
