DESCRIPTION Short body with tremendously long tail. Head and neck white, with black band from bill to nape. Body colour yellow and well marked with buff, brown, grey and black.
NATURAL DISTRIBUTION Central and western China.
HABITAT Suitable game bird to introduce into forested and hilly country.
DIET Insects, seeds.
SPECIAL NEEDS Shelter as well as outside habitat. Better to keep two or three hens with one cock.
CAGE LIFE Strong and hardy. Usually breeds second year. Lays 7 to 15 olive-brown eggs, incubation 24 to 25 days.
