DESCRIPTION

4 1/2inches (12cm). All green, brighter on face, forehead and rump, lighter

underneath. Turquoise tint on wing, pale beak.


NATURAL DISTRIBUTION

Venezuela, Trinidad and Colombia.

HABITAT

The Green Rumped Parrotlet likes Wooded areas.


DIET

Sunflower and safflower seeds, canary seeds, cereal, nuts, fruits, garden

vegetables, green foods, dates, figs.


SPECIAL NEEDS

Varied diet.


CAGE LIFE

Green Rumped Parrotlet needs a nest box 5X5X8 inches (13 X 13 X 20cm),

entrance 1 1/2 inches (4cm). Lays 4 to 7 white eggs, deposited

on alternate days, incubation 21 to 23 days by female only, male feeds

her and later young, fledging 30 to 35 days. Young fed by both parents

at least another 14 days. Separate fledgings from parents once they become

independent, allowing female to start on next brood. Up to three broods

per year.
