DESCRIPTION 10 to 11 inches (25 to 26cm). Brownish-green on head, gradually turning olive down back and on wings, lighter brown under chin, turning to orange rust below breast.
NATURAL DISTRIBUTION Brazil.
HABITAT South American rainforest.
DIET In the wild, primarily cactus seeds (hence its name), and fruit and berries.
SPECIAL NEEDS Stays relatively peaceful with other conures.
CAGE LIFE Makes up for lack of bright colour with friendly, even affectionate, personality. Suitable for roomy cage or aviary. Lays 3 to 4 white eggs, incubation 28 to 30 days, fledging 40 days.
